15 September 2026, Chisinau – The National Centre for Sustainable Energy (CNED) and the Ministry of Energy are launching the fifth edition of the national campaign “Turn Consumption into Sustainable Savings”, promoting measures and practices that can help reduce energy costs and better preparation for the cold season. The campaign targets households, public institutions and businesses.

The campaign aims to provide clear information and practical recommendations on reducing energy consumption, using energy equipment and systems efficiently, and identifying solutions that can generate long-term savings.

The campaign is part of the Readiness Plan for the 2026 - 2027 Heating Season, approved by the Government, and is carried out in partnership with the National Agency for Energy Regulation of the Republic of Moldova (ANRE), Premier Energy SRL, Energocom SA, Moldelectrica State Enterprise, Termoelectrica SA, RED-Nord SA, CET-Nord SA, FEE-Nord SA, and the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Sector Projects (UCIPE).

“Since 2022, the Ministry of Energy has been developing an annual readiness Plan for the cold season, which includes scenarios and concrete measures for managing risks in the energy sector. Voluntary reduction of energy consumption is one of these measures, and accurate information helps people understand the context and act responsibly. Against the backdrop of the regional energy crisis, exacerbated by drought, Russia’s war against Ukraine and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, every watt saved matters. Through simple actions, each of us can contribute to the country’s energy security,” said Dorin Junghietu, Minister of Energy.

Throughout the campaign, recommendations on the rational use of energy in households, public institutions and businesses will be promoted. The information will cover, among other topics, reducing energy waste caused by unnecessary consumption, using electrical appliances and equipment efficiently, managing consumption during the cold season, and measures that can help reduce energy losses.

Particular emphasis will be placed both on measures that can be implemented without significant investment and on energy efficiency solutions requiring investment that can reduce energy consumption and costs in the long term. Consumers will also be informed about opportunities available through government programmes.

“Energy efficiency is not only about reducing consumption, but also about gaining better control over energy costs. When consumption is managed more efficiently and losses are reduced, households, institutions and businesses become less exposed to price fluctuations and can plan their expenses more effectively. Through this campaign, we want to provide consumers with clear information and practical recommendations, from simple measures that can be implemented immediately to energy efficiency solutions and financing opportunities that can generate long-term savings,” said Ion Muntean, Director of CNED.

As part of the campaign, thematic articles and materials containing practical recommendations for different categories of consumers will be developed and distributed. Useful information on efficient energy use will also be disseminated through informational materials distributed by partner institutions and through information included on the back of energy bills. Recommendations and informational resources will be promoted through the communication channels of the institutions involved in the campaign.

For information and advisory support, citizens can contact the CNED Green Line at 0 8005 5005. CNED also provides access to its e-Library, which brings together more than 60 practical guides, brochures, studies and other informational materials on energy efficiency and renewable energy, available in Romanian, as well as in Russian and English. The resources can be accessed on the official CNED website under MEDIA → e-Library and are also disseminated through the Information Centres within district councils, where CNED has an information panel, helping facilitate access to relevant information for people across the country.

The fifth edition of the campaign continues the joint efforts of institutions in the energy sector to inform consumers and promote concrete measures to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.

It is worth noting that, through the financing programmes and products developed by CNED, consumers have access to solutions that directly contribute to reducing energy consumption and related costs. These include the Appliance Voucher Programme (EcoVoucher) and the Energy Efficiency Fund for the Residential Sector of Moldova (FEERM), under which the Green House financing product is available. These programmes contribute to reducing costs borne by consumers, improving energy efficiency and increasing access to solutions that enable more efficient use of energy.

The National Centre for Sustainable Energy is a public institution mandated to coordinate and organise activities aimed at ensuring the implementation of state policy in its areas of responsibility, including by attracting and managing financial resources for the financing and promotion of projects and programmes in these areas in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner, contributing to climate change mitigation objectives and enhancing the country’s energy security.
