Another 2.217 thousand families in Moldova have reduced their energy expenses through the government’s EcoVoucher Program

October 1, 2025, Chișinău - Another 2.217 families in the Republic of Moldova will enter the cold season with new, energy-efficient household appliances, thanks to the support provided by the government’s EcoVoucher Program.
During the 5th session of this year, held between September 12–29, 2.217 vouchers were redeemed by beneficiaries. Most of the vouchers went to families with children – 1.938. At the same time, 279 vouchers were redeemed by households consisting of elderly persons over the age of 63.
“The results of this session once again demonstrate that EcoVoucher meets a real need of the population. Beneficiaries immediately reduce their energy consumption and free up important financial resources for other household expenses. At the same time, the program is an investment in the future – in more efficient homes and in a cleaner environment,” stated Ion Muntean, Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED).
Each voucher, with a value of 6,000 MDL, covered up to 70% of the cost of a new household appliance. In this session, the families purchased with the help of the EcoVoucher 1.066 refrigerators and 1.151 washing machines with high energy efficiency classes. Beneficiaries of the vouchers can acquire under the program refrigerators (including those with integrated freezers, energy classes A, B, C, and D) and washing machines from class A. Every appliance purchased through the program complies with European Conformity (CE) standards and energy efficiency criteria.Replacing old appliances with high-performance ones reduces energy consumption and cuts electricity bills by at least half.
Since its launch, the EcoVoucher Program has already supported approximately 32.239 families in the Republic of Moldova. In 2025 alone, over 25.000 vouchers were redeemed, confirming the scale and efficiency of this governmental initiative.
